Serving Knowledge Supper Club comes to Leña!

Why didn’t anyone tell me to prepare?

This is a question Dr. Warren Lewin, Site Lead - Palliative Care, Toronto Western Hospital at University Health Network (UHN), hears much too often.

We can’t predict the future, but we can be better prepared. Join Dr. Lewin on Wednesday, November 3, 6 p.m. at Leña for our next Serving Knowledge Supper Club dinner in support of UHN Foundation, for an opportunity to explore crucial conversations about advanced care planning to ensure you leave nothing unsaid.

In hearing the stories of patients and family members, Dr. Lewin knows all too well that in order to ‘live our best lives’ we have to let others know what matters most to us in the end. This includes engaging in important conversations with family and friends, and then making sure that your doctor is kept in the loop!

Talking to your family about what’s most important to you, and to them, is a gift that you can give each other. What is your legacy? How do you want to be remembered? How do you ensure your wishes and those of your family are followed?

Dr. Lewin’s mission is to establish a program at UHN so that all patients and families receive humanistic personalized care earlier, and also at end-of-life. He and his team are creating a first-of-its-kind communications program that teaches clinicians how to skillfully lead conversations about what matters most to their patients and families in order to drive quality and tailored empathic care.
