Event Details

Science and technology are reshaping everything, from the way we work to the way we manage our lives and interact with the world around us. Join a group of University Health Network (UHN) doctors and researchers for a fun evening of testing science knowledge and inspiring critical thinking in your children.

During the virtual experience, parents and caregivers will compete against kids in their household in a game of multiple-choice trivia focused on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics). Participants will have the opportunity to win prizes from sweetevent.ca

This is a great opportunity for kids to interact with and be inspired by the UHN Research team, including Dr. Nicole Woods, Research Institute Director, The Institute for Education Research (TIER), Dr. Jennifer Campos, Associate Director - Academic, KITE-UHN, and Hodan Mohamud, Research Assistant.

By purchasing a ticket for this event, you will support UHN with their mission to pursue the knowledge needed to build a healthier world through excellence in research, education and the enhancement of patient care.

How It Works

Choose between packages that include a hand-selected collection of sweets and treats delivered to your door, and others that just include event registration. (Deadline for registration with kits is Monday, April 19, noon)
  • You'll be provided with a Zoom link 24 hours prior to the event

Meet Our Speakers

Dr. Nicole Woods is the Research Institute Director of The Institute for Education Research (TIER); Associate Professor, Department of Family and Community Medicine, University of Toronto; Education Scientist & Associate Director, The Wilson Centre, The University of Toronto at UHN. Dr. Wood’s research program at UHN explores the development of expertise in the health professions. As a cognitive psychologist, she is interested in the mental representation of diagnostic categories, how different forms of knowledge are used in problem-solving, and how education supports the cognitive architecture necessary for practice. The aim of her research is to fundamentally change how teachers and education researchers think about knowledge across the health profession in order to transform healthcare practice through education.

Dr. Jennifer Campos is a Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in Multisensory Integration and Aging. Jenny is the Associate Director - Academic, KITE-UHN, Senior Scientist, Chief Scientist of the Challenging Environments Assessment Laboratory and an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology (University of Toronto). Jenny’s research focuses on enhancing safe mobility during walking and driving under realistic and challenging conditions. This includes understanding how age-related sensory impairments (e.g., vision, hearing) and cognitive impairments can increase the risk of falls and vehicle collisions (e.g., in healthy older adults, those with hearing loss, dementia). She uses virtual reality and simulation technologies to a) carefully recreate real-world conditions, to ensure the generalizability of research outcomes to real-world applications and b) adapt these technologies for training and rehabilitation interventions. Jenny is also the Director of the iDAPT Young Innovators youth outreach program. Jenny is also the Director of the KITE Young Innovators youth outreach program.

Hodan Mohamud is the KITE Youth Outreach Coordinator for the KITE Young Innovators Program.
